Galesburg Fire Crews Respond to Monmouth Boulevard Structure Fire

The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 350 Monmouth Boulevard at 2:04 a.m. on, August 20, 2023. The response included all three stations and the 11 personnel on duty. Fire crews were notified of a smoke investigation at the intersection of Monmouth Boulevard and South Academy Street. Upon arrival, Central Station Crews reported heavy smoke coming from a detached garage.  Acting Battalion Chief Matt Lewis responded and established command while requesting a second alarm be dropped for a structure fire. Central Crew extinguished the fire with a pre-connected attack line. Brooks Street Station fire crew assisted in extinguishing the fire. The Fremont Street Station fire crew was cleared upon arrival.

All occupants of the residence were outside of the structure upon discovery of the fire. The fire caused damage to the garage. No injuries were reported. Preliminary damage estimates are at $3,000. Galesburg Fire Investigators have ruled the fire to be ‘Intentional’.
