Henderson County Deputies Identify Man in Fatal UTV Accident

**UPDATED**

A Gladstone, IL man was killed yesterday form a UTV accident. After investigation, it was determined that Kenneth Haley, age 79, died after being thrown from the vehicle when it rolled over. Haley and his daughter, Kathy Foley, age 55, of Gladstone were traveling west bound on Township Road 1325N, east of Township Road 1100E in rural gladstone. The driver’s door of the vehicle came open and Haley attemped to close it. While doing so he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn into the ditch. Haley was not wearing his seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. Foley was wearing a seatbelt and was able to free herself after the crash. Foley is still hospitalized in stable condition.

The Sheriff’s Office sends their condolences to the Haley and Foley family and friends.

**ORIGINAL RELEASE**

On Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at approximately 11:11 am the Hancock/Henderson 911 Center received a report of an ATC accident in rural Gladstone with serious injuries. Upon the Sheriff and Deputies arrival, they discovered a 2023 Polaris UTC had rolled from the roadway in the corn field. The driver of the UTV had been totally ejected from the vehicle. The passenger was wearing a seatbelt and was able to free themselves from the vehicle after the crash. The Sheriff and Deputies started performing lifesaving treatment to the driver until the Burlington Fire Department Paramedics arrived. The driver was later pronounced deceased at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center. The passenger was transported to the hospital by the Biggsville Ambulance Service for injuries.

The name of the driver and occupant are not being released at this time, pending next of kin notification.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Burlington Fire Department, Gladstone Fire Department, Biggsville Ambulance Service, and Med Force Paramedics.
