Illinois Corn Continues to Advocate For Ethanol Access Across the Country

Share

Earlier this month, Illinois Corn joined 23 other organizations and Midwest Governors as they push the Environmental Protection Agency to finalize its ruling on year-round E-15. Illinois Corn Director of Biofuels and Research Dave Loos said that while they wait for that approval from the EPA, they are working with lawmakers for ethanol access across the country.

“One of the highest priorities Illinois Corn Growers, National Corn Growers, and the ethanol industry has is what we call the Next Generation Fuels Act,” said Loos. “Which would establish a higher octane gasoline with a higher blend of ethanol- even higher than E15. In that legislation, there is a full-time waiver for E15 and above.”

Loos adds that in Illinois, there has been more momentum from petroleum marketers to sell more E15.
