On August 1, 2023, the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office started investigating a series of rural burglaries. Over the past two weeks several more burglaries have been reported to investigators.
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and the La Harpe Police Department began investigating several burglaries in their respective jurisdictions.
On August 10, 2023, a 17-year-old male juvenile was arrested by McDonough County Sheriff’s Detectives and referred to McDonough County Juvenile Probation. The male juvenile was charged with several counts of Burglary and released to a parent/guardian.
On August 11, 2023, at 4:40 p.m., Wyatt P. Link, 18, of LaHarpe, IL was arrested by the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office and charged with 3 counts of Burglary and 1 count of Criminal Damage to Property. Link was lodged into the McDonough County Jail pending a bond hearing.
More charges are expected, and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office may have similar charges in the days to come. Please contact the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office at (309) 833-2323 if you are the victim of a rural burglary that has not been reported.
