Monmouth City Council Approves Urban Hen Ordinance

Share

On a 4-3 vote, Monmouth City Council passed and approved the Urban Hen Ordinance for single family detached dwellings within city limits. City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher explains licenses can be denied, suspended, or revoked if licensing requirements are not followed:

“It does require a license from the city. Licenses will be available through the City Clerk’s Office. There is an annual fee of $25 for that. Licenses for hens can only be issued for single family detached dwellings that are occupied by the same individual that holds the license, so it is just for single family homes. There are provisions in there to deny or suspend or revoke a license for violation of the terms of the ordinance.”

The Urban Hen Ordinance will take effect in fourteen days. The complete Urban Hen Ordinance can be viewed online at cityofmonmouth.com.
