Through the Regional Office of Education #33, adult education programs are available to serve students 16 years of age and older, offering a variety of courses to obtain a GED, acquire English language skills, or transitioning to college, explains Administrative Assistant for Adult Education Melinda Whiteman:

“There is alternative credentialing, which is an option for us to take a look at what they were able to achieve in high school and see if they meet the minimum requirements. If they are deficient in one or two subjects, we can help them with that. The other is like a GED, a test called HISET. What we do in adult education is we set them up on a platform that will test them on where they are at now and then they work through modules and assignments to help them be successful to pass each one of those tests required for the GED or HISET.”

High school equivalency classes begin the week of August 21st and are offered in the evenings in Monmouth or morning, afternoon, and evenings in Galesburg.
