Richard David “Rick” Barker, age 60, of Oquawka, Illinois passed away peacefully, at The Brent residence in Kim’s arms, on Thursday August 3, 2023 at 10:10 pm. Rick was born on November 8, 1962 in Peoria, Illinois and is the son of Jerry and Kay Crays Barker. Rick was raised in Gladstone and attended school at Union and was a graduate of Union High School in the class of 1981. Rick was previously married to Kim Brent on November 11, 1989 in Oquawka, Illinois. Rick was a professional painter employed at Riley Brothers in Burlington, for over thirty-five years. Rick was an avid Chicago Bears fan, and loved to go road tripping and listening to his tunes.  He is survived by his high school sweetheart/life long friend, Kim Brent of Oquawka, Illinois and son, Sheldon Barker of Oquawka, Illinois, his brother Bill Barker of Oquawka, father in law, Roy Brent of Oquawka, and his beloved cat, Heidi, (also known as Mrs. Hitler). Rick is preceded in his death by his parents, his brother, Dan; his sister, Cindy; mother in law, Phyllis Brent, and his cat, Emma.

Rick will be cremated and at present there is no service or celebration of his life being planned. Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka is in charge of Rick’s Care, and to leave a remembrance or for more information please visit, www.turnbullfuneralhomes.com or continue at the website.
