Shelley graduated from Knoxville High School in 1976. She was a homemaker and mother, caring for her family. She worked as a maid for a time in the former Economy Inn.

Shelley enjoyed classic cars, riding motorcycles, travelling, and most recently, boating. She also loved going to garage sales and thrift stores, always seeking a new knick knack.
