Dr. Vázquez Joins General Surgery Team at OSF HealthCare

Dr. Samuel Vázquez chose to work at OSF HealthCare due to the Mission and sense of community that is evident here. He is happy to work with diverse people and help the community prosper while creating a pleasant experience where the voices of patients are heard.

“When I was younger, I required surgery and the surgeon was extremely kind and guided my family through the difficult time,” he said. “I wanted to have a profession where I could help people when they needed it the most.”

He chose to become a surgeon because it allows him to take care of patients when they are their sickest. Patients are often scared when they hear they need surgery, and his calm personality can help ease their fears and recover successfully.

Dr. Vázquez was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Chicago at a young age. He is married with two children and one dog. In his free time, he enjoys swimming, cooking, hiking, watching movies and playing video games.

He is fluent in English and Spanish and specializes in gallbladder disease, hernias, minimally invasive surgeries, breast masses, colon surgeries and skin lesions.
