Knox County Sheriff’s Office Warns Public of Ongoing Scam Calls

Share

FRAUD ALERT: The Knox County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple calls today from citizens reporting they have received calls from a “SGT Levi Brown” from the Sheriff’s Office “warrant and citations division”. “SGT Brown” would demand a bond settlement with the caller while they were on the phone with him or face warrant arrest.

THIS IS A SCAM!

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office will not call and demand money to be paid over the phone to avoid arrest. The Sheriff’s Office does not have a “warrant and citations division”. Knox County does not employ a “SGT Levi Brown”. Be aware it is common in these types of scams that a legitimate law enforcement number may be “spoofed” on your caller ID. If you receive a call from this person, or any other person attempting a similar scam, hang up and call the 24 hour non-emergency Public Safety number, 309-343-9151.
