Knox County State’s Attorney Jeremy Karlin Breaks Down SAFE-T Act and Local Law Enforcement Application

Back in July, the Illinois Supreme Court upheld the Pretrial Fairness Act, or SAFE-T Act, ruling it did not violate the Illinois Constitution. Under the ruling, which takes effect on September 18th, Illinois will become the first state to eliminate cash bail. Knox County State’s Attorney Jeremy Karlin explains the process that will be implemented at the time of an arrest, determining detainable or non-detainable offenses:

To increase community awareness surrounding the SAFE-T Act, all individuals are invited to be a part of a Zoom Training Session on Thursday, September 14th at 5 pm. The training is free, however pre-registration is required to receive the meeting link, which can be done by searching Knox County State’s Attorney Jeremy Karlin on Facebook.
