Michael Ray “Caddy” Cadwell, 62, of Galesburg, passed away from liver cancer at 11:18 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2023 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born January 31, 1961 in Galesburg, the son of Donald Gene and Phyllis Louise (Edgerton) Cadwell, Sr. Michael was reared and educated in Hammond, Indiana. He was a truck driver for many years. Michael married Kimberly Hartoonian on November 21, 1981 in Hammond, Indiana and together they had one daughter. They later divorced.

Michael is survived by one daughter, Vanessa Cadwell of Hammond, Indiana; three grandchildren: Kenni Willow, Kenan, and Bella; three brothers: Donald (Marcia) Cadwell, Jr. of Galesburg, Gale (Tammy) Cadwell of Grovertown, Indiana, and John (Dawn) Cadwell of London Mills, Illinois; four sisters: Melissa (Joan Naija) Cadwell, Melinda (Richard) Brunkow, Rhonda Hillyer, all three of Galesburg, and Margee (Bruce) Patterson of Peru, Illinois. Also surviving is the mother of his daughter, Kim Domasica of Hammond; several nieces and nephews; three uncles; and three aunts. His family would like to give a special thanks to his ex-mother-in-law, Peggy Grandbois of Indiana for being such a great help. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Louise Cadwell; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Michael was an avid Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks fan. He enjoyed playing the lotto and cards. Michael also enjoyed playing pool, golfing, and drinking beer. He was a prankster and will be remembered for his great sense of humor. Michael loved his family. He was devoted father, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend and will be deeply missed.

Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
