Share

The United Red Storm girls golf team won their 3rd straight Lincoln Trail Conference Railsplitter Championship on Wednesday at Midland Golf Club in Kewanee. The Red Storm shot a team total of 397, besting runner-up Mercer County by 47 strokes.

Individually, Ridgewood’s Gracie Russell won her second consecutive championship, shooting an 82. Amazingly, United had all six of their golfers finish in the top 17, led by Leighton Trego’s second place finish with a 93. Meredith Yung’s 94 was good enough to be an all-conference golfer in 4th, as was Jalyn Wallace’s 6th place finish with a 101. Rounding out the top four for United was Paige Christensen’s 109 for 13th. All six golfers for United that golfed yesterday, are underclassmen.

Knoxville had a pair of all-conference team members with Madison Hilgenberg’s 7th and Piper Lewis’ 9th place. Carly Powell was the lone Abingdon-Avon female taking part and she placed 40th.
