Western Illinois University will celebrate U.S. Constitution Day at 11 a.m. on Sept. 18 in the University Union Brattain Lounge with a poster session and panel discussion.
The event is hosted by WIU Centennial Honors College in collaboration with WIU’s Department of Political Science. This year’s event highlights the value of voting for U.S. citizens.
“It is necessary for citizens to understand the significance of their vote in all elections,” WIU Political Science office manager Cynthia Arnett said. “To ensure they do not take this valuable piece of democracy for granted.”
A poster session will be held in the University Union Brattain Lounge from 11 a.m.-noon, followed by a panel discussion in the Union’s Capitol Room from noon-1 p.m. Panelists include associate vice president of Global Studies Randy Glean; professor of Political Science Jongho Lee and professor of Political Science Richard Hardy.
The event will be live-streamed on WIU’s YouTube Channel WesternIllinoisU.
