Share

The fall sports season at Abingdon-Avon High School has ended which means the Tornadoes winter sports teams are gearing up for their seasons. Boys and girls basketball will be starting in less than a month, with the girls beginning their season at the ROWVA/Williamsfield-Ridgewood pre-thanksgiving tournament on November 13th, and the boys starting their year at the Orion tip-off classic a week later on November 20th. Last year, the Tornadoes boys rebounded from a slow start to finish with an 11-19 record and a win in regional play, while the girls finished with a record of 20-14, also earning a win in 1A regional action. One thing in particular that both basketball programs are excited for this season is the girls and boys A-Town shootouts taking place in December. Abingdon-Avon Athletic Director Reid Kelso has more about the first girls A-Town Tornado Classic, as well as the annual Great Western Shootout hosted at Abingdon-Avon High School.

The A-Town Girls shootout will begin at Abindgon-Avon High School on December 9th, matchups will be announced closer to tournament tip-off. For the full interview Athletic Director Reid Kelso, visit the Sports Podcast section.
