Abingdon Man Charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Manufacture/Deliver

On October 10, 2023 at approximately 3:08 p.m., a Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling the 400 block of S. Jefferson Street in Abingdon, conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office had recently received several complainants from local residents of possible illegal drug trafficking from locations in Abingdon.

Deputies made contact with the driver and he was identified as Adam Putman (40) of Abingdon. Deputies immediately noticed suspicious activity from Putman and requested a K9 to assist with the traffic stop.

Upon alert from K9, Deputies searched the vehicle and located approximately 84 grams of methamphetamine in the vehicle.

Putman was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine w/ Intent to Manufacture/Deliver more than 15 grams but less than 100 grams, 720 ILCS 646/55(C), Class X Felony.

Sheriff Jack C. Harlan Jr. holds a zero-tolerance stance for the illegal distribution of controlled substances.
