Illinois State Police Investigating Officer Involved Shooting in McDonough County

UNIT:  Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Zone 4

LOCATION:  500 block of N. Washington Street Bushnell, IL, McDonough County

DATE and TIME:  October 19, 2023 at approximately 1:44 p.m.

BRIEF SYNOPSIS: ISP DCI Zone 4 agents were requested by the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office to investigate an officer involved shooting. Preliminary information indicates a McDonough County Deputy was attempting to take an Aggravated Domestic Battery suspect into custody when the suspect came at the Deputy with an axe. The Deputy fired multiple rounds at the suspect and the suspect fled the scene. The suspect was later apprehended and did not appear to have sustained any injuries. The Deputy did not sustain any injuries.  This investigation is active and ongoing, and no additional information will be released at this time.
