Jack Merrill Lundeen, 100, died October 12, 2023. Jack was born in Galesburg, Illinois on October 18, 1922, to John Edward Lundeen and Merle Elizabeth (Henry) Lundeen.

He married Joann Elizabeth Westerfield on May 3, 1948, in Galesburg, IL. She preceded him in death on January 17, 2021.

Jack graduated from Galesburg High School in 1940 and from Carl Sandburg College in 1975 with an associate degree in accounting.

During World War II, Jack served in the U.S. Naval 102nd Construction Battalion (the Navy Seabees), from 1942-1946. During his tour of duty, he was stationed in the south pacific for two years.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Lundeen, and two sisters, Shirley Shattuck, and Phyllis Strader. One brother-in-law, Richard Strader of Wataga, IL, survives.

Survivors also include two daughters, Jan Lundeen (Jon Wagner) Rio, IL, Elizabeth “Beth” Alderson (Stuart Alderson) Galesburg, IL. Three grandchildren Nicholas Wagner, Joanna “Jodi” Lundeen-Wagner (Amanda Wagner), all of Chicago IL, and Erin Alderson (Michael Crumm) of Fair Oaks, CA. Three great-grandchildren Henry Wagner and Finney Wagner, both of Chicago, IL, and Michael “Mack” Crumm, III of Fair Oaks, CA. And many nieces and nephews.

Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg, is overseeing arrangements with cremation accorded. There will be no services.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Galesburg IL, the Rescue Mission, Galesburg IL, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
