Karen Jean McCombs, 62, of Galesburg, died at4:12 a.m. on October 10, 2023, in Abingdon, Illinois. Born on November 27, 1960, Karen lived a life marked by kindness and generosity.

Karen is survived by her loving mother, Rosalie D. (Hendricks) Kempster, of Galesburg, Illinois; her son, Heath Robinson of Iowa; her siblings, Becky McCombs of Abingdon, Christine Denisar of Galesburg, and Larry McCombs of Maquon; and her beloved Aunts Frances Wolfe of London Mills and Dottie Davis of Knoxville; and a family of loving nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her beloved pets, Beep and Foxy.

Professionally, Karen worked as a Supervisor at Lutheran Social Services for many years. Her commitment was also evident in her participation in the Faith Baptist Church, where she shared her spiritual journey.

Beyond her professional realm, her interests lay in the serenity of gardening and her fondness for crocheting, cooking, and baking.

Karen is predeceased by her stepfather, Kenneth Kempster, and her Aunt Shirley Morrell. She will be deeply missed, leaving behind precious memories cherished by all who had the honor of knowing her.

Private graveside services will be held at East Midway Cemetery, London Mills, Illinois. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Guardian Angels Humane Society Legacy Fund or to the family in care of Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory.
