Local Prescription Drug Take-Back Event Saturday, Oct. 28th

The Illinois Department of Public Health is encouraging Illinoisans to take advantage of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day taking place on Saturday, Oct. 28th. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and various local organizations are hosting events around the state to collect tablets, capsules, patches and other forms of prescription medication that may be outdated or are no longer needed. Collection sites will not accept syringes, sharps and illicit drugs.

The Galesburg Police Department is partnering with the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) this Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The event will provide local residents with a convenient location to properly dispose of unused/expired prescription drugs. The drop-off will be held at the Galesburg Public Safety Building in the west lot (150 S. Broad Street), and attendees can simply drive up and deposit the items in the designated boxes.
