The Monmouth College football team got back on track on Saturday with a commanding win over the Grinnell Pioneers on homecoming. Following a tough 20-17 loss to Illinois College last weekend, the Scots rolled through Grinnell by a score of 69-6, racking up a school record 720 yards in the process. The Scots offense was buoyed by 308 yards and 4 scores by 5th year senior quarterback Carter Boyer, while Brendan Bishop had his second straight game with over 100 receiving yards while catching 2 of Boyer’s touchdown tosses. Monmouth also had 2 100 yard rushers in this game, with McKade Brooks and freshman Nate Wrublik combining for 226 yards on the ground on 26 carries for the duo. The Scots defense also stepped up in a big way, allowing just 116 yards on 50 plays for the Pioneer offense. Speaking on the WRAM Morning Show this morning, Monmouth Head Coach Chad Braun credits their bounce back week to a great week of practice leading up to their homecoming contest, stating that he would like to see his players continue to practice with an edge all season.
