While cell phones, tablets, and computers are great devices to have, they also present risks if they are not properly used, especially among children. Child crime expert, retired Detective Richard Wistocki, has served 30 years in law enforcement and now dedicates his career in assisting children and families by pursuing, apprehending, and prosecuting child predators. Detective Wistocki will be presenting at Monmouth-Roseville High School in October and shares the importance for all parents and guardians to attend as he educates on responsible digital activity:

Monmouth Police Chief Joe Switzer has previously attended a training event for law enforcement with Detective Wistocki and stresses the importance for parents to know what their children are getting into on their devices:

“Your kids take their phone and they go in and go to bed and four hours later they are still on their phone. Some may be getting caught in some of this cyber activity, whether they are on the victim end or see something that is going on out there, but they have a lot of unsupervised idle time. I think it is going to open some eyes on parents that you kid has to have a cell phone, obviously, but you can’t just give it to them. There are some controls that you need to put in place.”

Detective Wistocki will present on cutting edge investigative techniques for parents and students regarding responsible digital activity on Thursday, October 26th at 6 pm in the Monmouth-Roseville High School gymnasium. This event is free and open to the entire public.
