Allen Hathaway, age 88, of Kirkwood, Illinois, passed away at 5:09 PM on Monday, November 6, 2023 at his residence. He was born September 9, 1935 in Biggsville, Illinois, the son of Chester and Katie Lee (Philpott) Hathaway. Allen was raised and attended school in both Biggsville and Kirkwood. He married Evelyn Price in Kirkwood, Illinois and she is surviving.

Allen worked most of his life in construction. He worked for Dale Sloss Construction here in Monmouth, Illinois and William Butcher Construction in Oquawka, Illinois. He enjoyed the outdoors; fishing and hunting. Mostly, Allen loved his family.

Allen is survived by his wife Evelyn at home, his children; Ray (Sally) Price of Ochlocknee, GA, Evelyn Barron of Monmouth, IL, Charles Payne of Monmouth, IL, Allen Payne of Monmouth, IL, April (Jim) Lucas of Burlington, IA, Rick (Penny) Beary of Knoxville, IL, James Hathaway of Monmouth, IL, Bobbie Jo Taylor, of Dallas, TX, and Tony Hathaway of Monmouth, IL. Also surviving are two sisters; Margaret Hathaway of Colorado and Geraldine Dean of Galesburg, IL, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; George and Kenny.
