Awards are starting to roll in for Illinois defensive tackle Jer’Zhan Newton. Newton was named the Nagurski-Woodson Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and the Smith-Brown Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year. He is the fourth Illini in history to earn the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year award.
