No Injureies Reported in Two Structure Fires in Galesburg

The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 66 Arnold Street yesterday, November 2, 2023, at 10:22 p.m. The response included all three stations and the 12 personnel on duty.  Upon arrival, personnel encountered smoke coming from the eaves and the rear of the residence. Battalion Chief Brackett established command and the Brooks Street Station crew used an attack line to make entry through the rear of the residence to extinguish the fire. The Central Station crew established a water supply and performed a search of the residence, and the Fremont Street Station crew performed ventilation to improve interior smoke conditions.  

The fire caused smoke damage throughout the first floor and fire damage near the area of origin. There were no occupants inside the residence at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. Preliminary damage estimates are at $15,000.

An emergency callback of off-duty fire personnel was initiated to provide emergency coverage for the City.  Galesburg Fire investigators determined the cause of the fire to be unintentional.

The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 582 Yates Streets on November 3, 2023, at 6:09 AM. The response included all three stations and the 12 personnel on duty. Upon arrival, personnel encountered smoke coming from the front door and rear of the residence. Battalion Chief Brackett established command and the Central Station crew used multiple attack hose lines to put out the fire. The Fremont Station crew established a water supply from a nearby hydrant and used a secondhand line to attack the fire from the front door. The Brooks St Station crew performed a search to make sure there were no occupants in the home, and ventilation to remove smoke from the interior of the building.  

The fire caused extensive smoke and fire damage throughout the main floor and fire damage throughout the residence. There were no occupants inside the residence at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. A reported missing dog was found safely outside the residence. Preliminary damage estimates are at $41,000.

 An emergency callback of off-duty fire personnel was initiated to provide emergency coverage for the City. The cause of the fire is undetermined and is still under investigation by Galesburg Fire investigators.
