Mrs. Norma Jean Bayles, 94, of Galesburg, died at 1:45 p.m., Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Allure of Knox County.

She was born Wednesday, July 10, 1929, in Peoria, the daughter of Theodore and Ida (Reiger) Heinsman. She married Clifford O. Bayles on October 2, 1949, in Peoria. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2014, after over 64 years of marriage.

She is survived by a son, Darrell (Donya) Bayles of Ankeny, Iowa; a daughter, Diane Wall of Bradford; a brother, James Heinsman in Michigan; three granddaughters, Lindsey (Garnner) Clemsen, Alexis Bayles, and Savannah (Taran) Sisk; and two great grandchildren, Granger Clemsen and Briggs Clemsen. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Andew Wall.

Norma was raised and educated in Peoria, where she was a graduate of Manual High School. She was an active member of Harmony Baptist Church. There Norma was known for helping take care of children, her visitation ministry, and her involvement in many church activities. Norma also volunteered her time at local hospitals and visiting patients at nursing homes.

Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Harmony Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Chris Nissley officiating. Burial will be with Clifford in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Harmony Baptist Church.
