Traffic Accident Leads to Arrest of Cuba Man

On November 8, 2023, at approximately 4:12 p.m., the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a two-vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of East 2200th and Elizabeth Road in rural El Dorado Township near Vermont, IL.

On of the victims was seriously injured in the accident when she was ejected from the vehicle and later transported to OSF Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

The crash was investigated, and witnesses were interviewed. It was determined that Justin L. Edwards intentionally drove his vehicle into another vehicle driven by William M. Worthington, 22, of Table Grove, IL, and the female victim.

Both vehicles were towed and impounded by the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office.

On November 10, 2023, at approximately 11:38 a.m., Justin L. Edwards, 33, of Cuba, IL was arrested on McDonough County Warrant 23CF147 on one count of Aggravated Domestic Battery and two counts of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon.

Edwards was detained in the McDonough County Jail pending the outcome of his case.

All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
