Story by Kadin Rogers

The United High School boys basketball team, like many boys basketball teams in the area, begin their season on Monday at the annual ROWVA/Williamsfield Basketball Thanksgiving Tournament. The Red Storm will play at Williamsfield High School at 6:30, taking on Henry-Senachwine in their first pool play game of the tournament. This season United will be lead by 1st year varsity Head Coach Jason Lancaster. Lancaster had previously served as the Red Storm Junior High basketball coach before taking the varsity job this offseason. Speaking on the WRAM Morning Show this morning, Coach Lancaster says it has been a smooth transition from the junior high to the high school team, and he is excited to get the season underway next week.

Monday’s United vs Henry-Senachwine contest will tipoff at 6:30 from Williamsfield. The Red Storm will follow up that match with a game against Riverdale at ROWVA High School on Tuesday.
