With fall sports at West Central High School wrapped up, the Heat winter sports teams are gearing up to start their seasons. As the calendar now turns to November, the West Central girls basketball team is just 12 days away from their first action, as they take part in the ROWVA/Williamsfield-Ridgewood pre-Thanksgiving tournament beginning on November 13th. As for the Heat boys, they begin their season a week later at the ROWVA/Williamsfield Thanksgiving tournament on November 20th. Speaking on the WRAM Morning Show this morning, Athletic Director Joel Zaiser expressed excitement for the new season of West Central basketball, as the boys will be lead by a new head coach in Doug Dennison, and the girls will hope to see another all-state performance from senior phenom Shelby Bowman.
Last season the Heat girls team amassed a record of 19-14, while making it to sectional tournament play before bowing out against Brown County. As for the boys, they finished last year with a 3-27 record, and now bring in Coach Dennison after he spent the previous 7 seasons at United High School.
