The summative designations for school districts across the state of Illinois have been released by the State Board of Education and West Central Superintendent Stacey Day shares which categories their buildings ranked in:
“Our high school and our elementary are in the Commendable category, which is a good solid place for them. Our middle school, unfortunately, is in the Comprehensive category. What happened there is we had a subgroup in our previous school report card that put us on targeted status where we needed to focus and try to make some improvements. Over the course of the time of that status, we didn’t make enough improvements as we needed to see, and so you move to the Comprehensive category. We started looking at that data. We get to work with a state coordinator that will help us really dive in and try to figure it out. Projects that we tried and implemented, we saw some movement, but not as much as we needed to see and so let’s dive a little deeper and figure out what is really causing some of our issues and how can we get things to move in the right direction.”
The West Central Board of Education will hold their regular meeting Tuesday, November 14th at 6 pm in the Elementary Cafeteria.
