Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Nov. 12th, 2023:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week are football players, senior Gavin Bell and Junior Jackson Thomas. Both players were named to the Three Rivers Athletic Conference’s All-West Division First Team. These two offensive linemen helped a Titan rushing offense set a new team season rushing record. Gavin and Jackson were a driving force that helped open running lanes for two players to run for nearly 1,000 yards each.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is junior football player, Mason Giddings. Mason’s efforts on the football field and classroom were rewarded by the Lincoln Land Conference coaches. He was named to the Small School Division All-Conference team at offensive lineman. Not only did he help pave the way for a 1,000 yard rusher by blocking, he showed his versatility by also carrying the football on offense, as well. In addition, Mason was also named the conference’s All-Academic Team.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is junior boys bowler, Ethan Nichols. What a great start to the bowling season for Ethan. After a golf season that saw him have great success, he carried that over to his first bowling meet of the season. Ethan rolled an amazing personal best 683, 3-game series, including a single-game high of 255.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior football player, Jamari McDonald. Jamari was outstanding on both sides of the ball this season for the Silver Streaks. His play along the offensive and defensive lines caught the attention of all the coaches in the Western Big Six Conference. They voted Jamari All-Conference First Team Offense and Second Team Defense.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is sophomore boys cross country runner, Ben Janssen. Running as the lone participant on a team can sometimes be a daunting task, but Ben was determined to put out his best effort each and very meet. His times dropped throughout the season and ended with a 3.1 mile personal best time of 27:14 at the Peoria Notre Dame regional.
