Among those was her 1,000th helper of her career. Carmyn’s senior leadership and versatility showed all season, as she finished in the top-5 in all the major stat categories for the Titans, including 2nd in assists and kills.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is junior volleyball player, Cameron Anderson. With a pair of wins last week, the United Red Storm captured a class 1A regional championship. One of the major factors in the success was her assist total for the two matches. Cameron handed out 30 total assists, including an amazing 19 helpers in a title game win over perennial power West Prairie.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Shelby Bowman. Shelby’s athleticism and versatility helped the Lady Heat to a 20-win season for the first time since 2019. She also contributed to her team making it to a class 1A regional semifinal last week. Shelby hustled her way to 12 digs in a win over Lewistown in the quarterfinals and served 3 aces for the week.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior boys cross country runner, Andrew Peterson. After placing 11th at the class 2A Galesburg regional, Andrew was 45th at the Geneseo sectional. His time of 17:04.10 was less than 30 seconds away from qualifying for the state finals. Earlier this season, Andrew made the Western Big Six All-Conference second team with a 15th place finish at the conference championship meet.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior football player, Kellen Hook. Kellen’s efforts on the defensive and offensive side of the ball this season earned him a spot on the Lincoln Land Small School Division All-Conference team. He garnered a 2nd team award at defensive back and an Honorable Mention spot as a skill position player.
