Day 1 of Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament in the Books.

The 77th annual Macomb Western Holiday Tournament got started on Thursday from the campus of Western Illinois University. Day 1 is now in the books, with 8 teams moving on to compete for the tournament championship, and 8 teams being sent to the consolation side of the bracket.

The first game of the day was won handedly by the West Hancock Titans. They defeated Canton 52-29. The second game of the saw number 2 seeded Illini Bluffs knock off Liberty 62-28. Farmington held on to a 49-39 win over Eureka in the third game, while number 3 seed Rockridge cruised over Lewistown 56-30 to win the fourth game. Through the halfway point of the first day the tournament was all chalk, that was before the Abingdon-Avon Tornadoes knocked off the 4th seeded Pittsfield Saukees in a defensive 42-34 battle. The hometown Macomb Bombers would take care of Brown County 78-32, while the top seed Camp Point Central would beat Southeastern 47-36. These matches would all lead into the final game of the day, with the Monmouth-Roseville Titans pulling off a comeback win over Illini West in the nightcap. The Titans trailed 24-17 at half but would ultimately rally to beat the Chargers 43-36.

Consolation games: Canton vs Liberty 9:00 AM, Eureka vs Lewistown 10:30 AM, (#4) Pittsfield vs Brown County 1:00 PM, Southeastern vs Illini West 2:30 PM

Championship bracket: West Hancock vs (#2) Illini Bluffs 5:00 PM, Farmington vs (#3) Rockridge 6:30 PM, Abingdon-Avon vs Macomb 8:00 PM, Monmouth-Roseville vs (#1) Camp Point Central 9:30 PM.
