Share

The 2023 Great Western Shootout will be held on Saturday at Abingdon-Avon High School. The long-running shootout schedule will contain match ups of teams from around the area, as well as several teams from around the state. Starting the day at 9 am, the Knoxville Blue Bullets will match up with the Canton Little Giants. Following that game the 7-2 Monmouth-Roseville Titans will look to improve their winning streak to 3 games with a match against Augusta/Southeastern. At noon the 7-3 Macomb Bomber boys basketball team will take on 5-6 Argenta-Oreana, out of the Decatur area. Next up on the schedule will be a battle of former Olympic Conference rivals as Sherrard and Farmington meet in the 1:30 game. Scales Mound will take the 2 and a half hour bus ride south for a game against the Fulton Steamers at 3:00, while Illini Bluffs and Rockridge will meet in a game of state-ranked squads at 4:30. The Tigers and Rockets come into that game with just 3 combined losses. Wrapping up the long day of basketball, the host A-Town boys and girls will hit the floor for the final two games. At 6:00, the Tornadoes boys will take on Payson-Seymour, while the Tornadoes girls will wrap up the night with a game against the Macomb Lady Bombers at 7:30.

Athletic Director at A-Town Reid Kelso has more information about the big day of basketball at Tornado Alley.
