Miss May Marie Varnold, 87, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 1:50 am, Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the Monmouth Nursing Home.

She was born November 3, 1936, in Galesburg, the daughter of Harold E. and Viola (Record) Varnold.

Left to cherish May’s memories is her brother, James Varnold of Knoxville, Illinois. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Harold Jr., Harry and Leroy and her two sisters, Barbara Hoeksema and Roberta Anderson.

As a young adult, May enjoyed babysitting. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1954. May went on to work at Ray’s Lunch for over seventeen years. She later worked for Gale Products and Admiral Corporation.

May was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and Green Bay Packers Fan. She had a love for 1000-piece puzzles. May was a faithful member of the First Church of the Nazarene.

May’s wishes were to be cremated. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 am Friday, December 29, 2023 in the Maquon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene.
