Monmouth Police Chief Joe Switzer Reminds Everyone to Stay Safe this New Year’s Eve Weekend

Share

With this coming weekend being New Year’s Eve, Monmouth Police Chief Joe Switzer informs extra patrols will be out on the roadways and offers tips to keep you safe:

“We will have extra officers out doing grant work for the Illinois Department of Transportation. They will be out there on the roads trying to keep everybody safe. Stay off your cellphones. Don’t drink and drive. The best thing to do is have a designated driver. Wear your seatbelts and just be defensive. Like I always say, defensive driving is the best way to try to keep yourselves out of harm, accidents, and those types of things.”

Additionally, Chief Switzer reminds individuals to not make yourself an easy target and lock their homes, garages, sheds, vehicles, and not to leave valuables in those vehicles, as thefts are a continuing concern.
