In February of 2024, the OSF Cancer Institute in Peoria is expected to open and provide oncology services for patients in the local region and across the state, creating a rural cancer hub, explains OSF Holy Family and St. Mary Medical Center President and CEO Lisa DeKezel:

“That truly is a state of the art, best in class cancer institute that really is being built to serve not only, obviously locally and regionally, but the entire state of Illinois and beyond. It is just really best in class with a proton beam for radiation services for patients and just research, clinical trials, it will be a truly incredible opportunity. Here locally, what does it look like to have a rural hub or cancer center to serve our rural communities? As an extension of that incredible work in Peoria, we are establishing in Galesburg at St. Mary Cancer Center. We are in the design phase of that right now as we speak and looking to launch that, probably closer to 2025. In the interim, we recognized the need to establish radiation oncology services, so we have stood up the radiation oncology portion of that cancer center early.”

Radiation oncology services at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg will be available to patients beginning in mid-January.
