Security Savings Bank Vice President Dorothy Ricketts Advises Buying Online from Recognizable Retailers

Online shopping has continued to ramp up in the recent months as we approach the holiday gifting season, meaning that it is more important than ever to be vigilant about the presence of online scams. Security Savings Bank Vice President Dorothy Ricketts encourages people who plan to be frequent online shoppers, to only trust deals that come from reputable and recognized online sellers.

“Really entice something that you are seeing online, instead of purchasing on that link that has been presented to you, go to your actual sign-in for one of the big online retailers or for the actual store that you like to shop at and see if you can find it there, whether than responding to that social media ad that you are getting. Many, many of those are misleading.”

Along with remaining skeptical about supposed deals online, Ricketts advises everyone to frequently check their monthly bank statements, and contest any unauthorized purchases made with their account.
