Structure Fire in Macomb Under Investigation

At 03:44 AM, Friday December 22, 2023, the Macomb Fire Department was dispatched to a house full of smoke located at 202 W Carroll Street in Macomb. Upon arrival, crews reported light smoke emitting from the structure. The home was reported to be vacant. The initial crew made entry and located fire on the first floor and made an initial knockdown. The structure was ventilated, and the fire was located on the second and third floor and was extinguished.

No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.

The structure has fire, smoke, and water damage throughout and the estimated loss is $50,000.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and is under investigation by the Macomb Fire Department.

Five on-duty Macomb Firefighters initially responded with an additional Seven off-duty firefighters called back to assist on scene and to cover any additional calls for service. Thank you to Macomb – McDonough County Communications Center, Macomb Illinois Police Department, Lifeguard Ambulance Service of Illinois, and, Ameren IL for their assistance with the fire. The scene was cleared at 07:06.
