Barbara was born January 21, 1942 in Peoria, Illinois the daughter of Leon F. and Imogene M. (Robinson) King, whom preceded her in death. Barbara grew up in Hanna City, Illinois where she graduated from high school. On November 2, 1962, Barbara married Larry H. Whitaker in Hanna City. Their enduring love echoed throughout their 61 year marriage.

Barbara is also survived by her beloved seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; along with one brother, Gary (Joyce) King of Hanna City.
Barbara worked at Payton’s Upholstery in Galesburg for over 15 years. She was a devoted spectator of life’s games — from cheering on her children at their sports events to reveling in her grandchildren’s milestones, she was their most ardent fan. Her passion extended to her role as Secretary of the Antique Auto Club, a position she held for over a quarter century, where alongside her treasured 2002 PT Cruiser, and other numerous antique vehicles, she shared her love for vintage charm.
Barbara wove threads of love into every stitch, whether knitting, quilting, or sewing. Her hands, always eager to create, also tended her garden with the tenderness of a seasoned craftswoman.
