2024 marks the 35th anniversary of the Buchanan Center for the Arts being opened in Downtown Monmouth. While there will be new upcoming classes, theater productions, movie nights, exhibitions, gallery talks, and more, Executive Director Kristyne Gilbert announces the public portion of their Endowment and Capital campaign has been launched, which will help fund the expansion into the second floor:
“We are expanding to the second floor. It is a $1.8 million campaign. $1.3 million for the remodeling of the second floor, which includes a new gallery, a theater space, permanent collection room, a second classroom, as well as an elevator, which makes everything accessible, ADA bathrooms as well. We are really excited to be able to respond to the community who has said that they want more, they need more, and we will be able to provide that space. We are running the public campaign through 2026. We will start construction in 2027, to be completed, fingers crossed if everything goes as planned, by 2029, which is the 40th anniversary.”
Additionally, Gilbert adds their first-floor classroom was recently remodeled.
