Local 10-year-old Sprint car driver Braxton Flatt has been driving since he was 7. Braxton, when he races, drives in the junior sprint class for the events he participates in. He started driving at Sebastian Speedway and has since driven in Texas Mania, the Milestone Nationals, and the Tulsa Shootout, taking home wins in each event. Winning of course takes preparation, and Braxton shared with us how he gets ready to go for his events.

“We start the car to see if it is running. Everybody on the crew, Mike and Scotty, they hype me up for the race for motivation. The first time I go on the tracks is called “hot laps”, which is basically practice for our cars. After that is the heat race, which lines me up for the A-feature which is the main race.” – Braxton discussing how he and his crew practice for races.

As Braxton starts 2024, his goal is to win 25-30 races this year.
