The McDonough District Hospital Board of Directors announced Friday (Dec. 29) an update with the hospital’s leadership team.

The MDH Board voted to suspend with pay Brian E. Dietz, MDH’s President/Chief Executive Officer, pending an internal review. Dietz has served as the President/CEO since June 2018. William (Bill) Murdock, MBA, CPA, who has served as Vice President/Chief Financial Officer at MDH since April 2019, has been appointed as interim Chief Executive Officer.

“We appreciate Bill Murdock agreeing to serve as the interim Chief Executive Officer for the hospital,” said Jere Greuel, Chairman of the MDH Board of Directors. “He is a highly-respected leader in the hospital, and also the community. We are confident in his abilities to direct our organization during his tenure as our interim CEO.”

Murdock brings 30-plus years of executive leadership in healthcare into his interim role, with ties to Macomb and McDonough County. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy from Western Illinois University in 1993, then a MBA from the Keller School of Management in 2016. Murdock became LEAN Bronze certified in 2015.

Bill and his wife Angie, a native of Macomb and graduate of WIU, are the parents of four children, two of whom are WIU graduates.
