Monmouth Kiwanis Club Celebrating 100 Years

Share

2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the Monmouth Kiwanis Club. A global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time, local Monmouth Kiwanian Steve Hall takes a trip down memory lane:

“When I joined, I believe it was February of 1975, we met at Melings. Every time the meeting started at 6:10 and we had upwards of 60 members at that time. Not all active, but probably a good 40 to 50 we active and we would meet and we would sing and eat and we had a program every week. We met every week. Now we meet twice a month. Prior to that, if anyone remembers hearing about the Hall Cox restaurant, I think they met there prior to that. We have moved around some because of course Melings closed. We met at the Monmouth Country Club, Cerar’s, which we are back to the Patton Block now.”

The Monmouth Kiwanis Club meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Patton Block in Downtown Monmouth at noon.
