With 370 students currently in the Multi-Lingual Learners Program in the Monmouth-Roseville School District, the staff to student ratio has drastically changed since 2008 when it was 1 to 44 and now being 1 teacher to 19 students, reports Superintendent Ed Fletcher:

“Our Pre-K through 12th grade English Language (EL), we have 370 students. That does not count our former EL’s, we also have to provide services for them. 90 percent of our EL’s were born in the United States. The ones not born in the United States, some of their birth countries include Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Malaysia, Guatemala, Thailand, and Burma. The top five languages spoken by our EL’s are Spanish, Chin-Hakha, French, Quorin, and Burmese. Our goal is for our EL students to in some cases learn their language and learn the English language.”
