Story by Kadin Rogers

In the past week, the United girls’ basketball team wrapped up play in the Lincoln Trail Conference tournament. Last Wednesday the Red Storm played in their first match in the 5th place bracket of the tournament, falling to Mercer County 36-17. United would turn around on Saturday and play Knoxville in the 7th-place game of the tournament. The Red Storm would get the 38-35 win in that to wrap up tournament play. After their latest action, the Lady Red Storm moved their record to 11-6 overall on the season. The win over Knoxville is the first United girls basketball win over the Blue Bullets since the inception of the program. Speaking on the WRAM Morning Show, Head Coach Chris Olson says that the win over Knoxville is symbolic of how the program is improving every year.

United will ramp up LTC action in the next week with several games, taking on (18-5) Annawan on Wednesday, matching up with Abingdon-Avon on Friday, and then playing Wethersfield on Monday. For the full interview with Coach Olson, visit the Sports Podcast section of our website, radiomonmouth.com.
