Warren Achievement Center in Monmouth serves persons with developmental disabilities in providing opportunities to learn and be active members of the community spanning many areas, including life skills, cooking, recreation, and even classroom learning. Through a recent project, the consumers wrote letters to the governors of all 50 states and in return received packages in the mail, shares Marketing Coordinator Sean Cavanaugh:
“They wrote to every governor in the country saying there were from Warren Achievement Center, explaining what they did, and then they started receiving information back. They received packages from every single state. They would send official state recipies, pictures of the governor for everyone in the class, magnets, pens, fun stuff. That was one of the coolest projects because they had the assignment, they wrote the letters, and then they didn’t all come on the same day, so every day was kind of a fun surprise.”
Warren Achievement Center has been serving consumers in the local community since 1961.
