The USDA is hosting a series of in person and virtual workshops for producers to learn more about risk management products for the livestock industry. The “Livestock Roadshow”, hosted by the Risk Management Agency, will be held in Galesburg, Tuesday, February 13th. This workshop, will highlight different disaster related livestock programs available through the Farm Service Agency, says Director of the Risk Management Agency Springfield Director Brian Frieden.

“In Illinois, we have over $200 million of insurance in Illinois for dairy fed cow, feeder, milk and swine You see a lot of information on crop insurance, but you don’t see as much on livestock and we really want to make sure that producers know what their options are, says Frieden. “So, if they feel that they’ve got a gap and maybe protecting themselves on the price side or in case of a drought, so we can kind of help fill that gap and answer those questions. So that producers feel comfortable with what options are out there and can protect their operations.”

The workshop will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 at the Knox County Farm Bureau in Galesburg.
