With more of a focus on agility and explosiveness training for today’s athletes, rather than just seeing how much weight you can lift, the West Central School District has begun doing research on implementing new core strengthening programs not only into their athletic programs but their physical education courses as well to benefit all students, shares Superintendent Stacey Day:

“We are really looking for something that is just going to help our kids; athletes in general and really all of our kids build that core strength. The new focus with the research is showing is that athletes in general are much better if we focus on agility and explosiveness. We are trying to find a program that we can implement during the school day. Kids are really busy, with both our athletes and non-athletes, so finding something we can do during the school day that we can also build into the summer and really just build that core strength for our kids will be important.”
