The deadline for the 2024 grant cycle through the Galesburg Community Foundation is fast approaching. Director of Development Sarah Grant shares who is eligible:
“We have five community funds, Monmouth, Roseville, Alexis, Knoxville, and Williamsfield, all have community funds. In the past they have all done their own community fund grant cycle and we worked with all of them to get them on one grant cycle, so we can talk about them all and have one grant process. This is the first year for that and are really excited about that. Any non-profit serving those areas are welcome to apply.”
The Monmouth Community Fund, established under the Galesburg Community Foundation, had their first grant cycle last year and were able to serve many organizations locally, shares Advisory Board Member Trevor Davies:
“We gave to the Buchanan Center for the Arts. They asked for some money for their Art Presenter Program. We did some work with the Community Hygiene Pantry, the Make it Monmouth Group to beautify the downtown. We helped Warren Achievement Center get a virtual reality system so that they can do some really neat things with the achievers. They can let them go have experiences, like go to the beach, go to the ocean, lots of different neat things that maybe they wouldn’t get the opportunity to go do, but with that virtual reality, it gives them the opportunity. We helped the Monmouth Fire Department update their turnout gear with some tactical turnout gear that had body armor and special tactical EMS bags. These are just some of the things that we did that is making Monmouth a better place to live and that is the hope is with these and the same thing with the teacher grants.”
The 2024 Community Grant and Teacher Mini Grant applications will close March 22nd.
